YACON SYRUP


Yacon is a root indigenous to the Andes of Peru and Bolivia. Also known as the Peruvian Ground Apple or Sunroot, it has been prized since the Incan civilization as a pleasantly sweet tasting tuber. A close relative of the Jerusalem artichoke the tuber’s sweet taste is mainly comprised of FOS or Fructo-oligosaccharides. Fructo-oligosaccharides are a type of dietary sugar that the body does not metabolize.

Suggested Use

Start with the same amount as you would use of sugar or honey in any recipe, taste and adjust the amount from there. Add 1-2 teaspoons of Organic Traditions Yacon Syrup to your favorite herbal tea, cacao drink, coffee or smoothies. Drizzle it over plain yogurt, cereal, berries and more. Use in all desserts, in salad dressings and in any recipe where a sweet note is required.
